In the past the event was held, inter alia, in USA (2009), Italy (2011) and Japan (2015).

The event will cover not only the official proceedings and a conference devoted to maritime issues, but also a number of accompanying cultural, sports and recreational events addressed to domestic and foreign guests and residents of Szczecin. The International Maritime Organization is a specialised organisation of the United Nations system, which deals with maritime affairs, maritime safety, international shipping and the prevention of marine environment pollution. In 2018, we also celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the IMO. The theme for the year – "IMO 70: Our Heritage - Better Shipping for a Better Future" – provides an opportunity to take stock and look back, but also to look forward, addressing the current and future challenges for maritime transport to maintain a continued and strengthened contribution towards sustainable growth for all.
